The Celedhroth Empire, a product of the Gwildath Civil War (1114 LE - 1121 LE), was established by the rebel leader Marchenir and his anti-royalist army. On 11 Brightstar 1121 LE, in the capital city of Saurrel, Marchenir and his mixed-race army and civilians formed their first government. The Celedhroth was a magocracy, its leadership comprised of three groups of wizards, all focused on building an empire with a classless society, equal rights for non-Kriavfahliil, and a united defense against the royalist armies of Gwildath.
Gwildath and Marchenir have engaged in numerous wars with one another since the rebellion. During one of these conflicts, the Celedhroth employed dark magic, summoning fiendish aid. This outside assistance helped defeat Gwildath, but also wrought extensive harm and mayhem in Marchenir's lands. It took a decade to subdue or expel all the rampaging fiends. The Celedhroth was subsequently replaced in the following election by a republic comprised of military leaders, scholars, wizards, priests, and merchants. This republican government has on several occasions been overthrown by magocracies, though none as notorious and reckless as the Celedhroth.
On the realm of Bal-Kriav, the Kriavfahliil of Turgon attributed their decline to the esoteric teachings of Marchenir's Celedhroth.
Our mages are diligently exploring every possible avenue to gain a strategic advantage. In their desperation, this endeavor includes submitting a petition to unlock the archival vaults and procure the forbidden scrolls authored by the ill-fated Celedhroth. Though the creators of these scrolls, tomes, and relics have long since been consumed by their own dark magic, their legacy still haunts our archival repositories. This arcane knowledge, crafted by a magocracy that once ruled over Marchenir, is the domain of fiends and conjuration. Must we resort to entities more ruthless and cunning than the Tetramord?
This morning, the vote approved the opening of the archival vaults. We must exercise prudence and refrain from summoning fell beings that could inflict upon us the same fate as the Celedhroth.
Neithil, the scribe of the High Magister, on 13 Hollow 23, recorded the "Commencement of the Dark Pacts"
The centaurs of Marchenir, products of the Cube Collapse, were once nomadic tribes of Tungesti. When they were transformed into what appeared to be abominations, they were driven away, taking refuge in the declining lands of Draugluin. During the Gwildath Civil War, the rebels under Marchenir forged an alliance with Draugluin's centaurs. These centaurs would go on to prove immensely valuable as shock troops, messengers, and even as a means of transportation. After Gwildath was divided into two, the centaurs remained with Marchenir, becoming an elite military force and a significant political bloc within the republic.
Marchenir, akin to Gwildath, dispatches settlers to distant realms. In the year 2435 LE, a contingent of colonists was sent to the world of Bal-Kriav, where they established the settlement of LĂșthil.
