Apoxlin's Sentence (1485 - 1683) was a divine retribution imposed upon Raxcvillibus Dumu-loc. This uninterrupted sentence required him to spend time in the realms of the Hells System.

Rax's excursions into the Hells remain a profound enigma to the masses; no written accounts of his time there exist within the annals of Bal-Kriav. Only Rax himself, Daojin, or a denizen of the Hells possess any knowledge regarding his experiences in that domain. The Hells system resides in the celestial expanse, situated so remotely that even the fastest voidships cannot traverse the distance within a mortal's lifetime. Access to that distant domain is restricted solely to those capable of conjuring temporary rifts, a magical prowess limited to the most esteemed wizards and clerics. Most elect to avoid any involvement with the Hells, for those who dare tread in such realms often surrender more than they stand to gain.

Daojin has engaged in lengthy discussions with Rax regarding the Hells, which have regrettably occurred less often than he would have preferred over his two centuries of service. He shifts his right thigh, carefully moving aside a plate of nearly imperceptible runes. These plates, numerous across his form, document records of pivotal conversations with his master. He locates the passage he was seeking: "The Hells operate as a regimented system, where the two most essential elements are governance by stringent laws and a hierarchical power structure akin to a military command. To maintain their positions or ascend the hierarchy, the devils employ any means their wicked minds can devise."

He pushes the plate aside, then another, locating an additional relevant item. "The Archdevils possess egos of near-limitless proportions, actively striving to dismantle the heroic narrative. For multiple tours, I held the title Kurgax, designating me a champion of Asmodeus, Hell's supreme ruler, and a somewhat celebrated figure. They permitted me to retain this title, cognizant that I was present solely due to Apoxlin's Sentence, destined to depart and be forgotten within a few years' time."

Daojin shifts to another tablet. "Gone for nine-year stretches, history as it is written in the Hells has a way of changing. Events transform, and some disappear altogether. The general thesis was that talk of heroes makes it harder for the Hells' masters to be recognized for their greatness." He sees a darkened piece of writing, one grayer than the others. Daojin does this for something he doesn't particularly like, reading what Rax had told him: "When there's a change of leadership, or simply to rewrite things in their favor, all the old history books are collected and burned. They can do this because the archfiends have a record of every book and who owns it. It's a serious offense to have a history book come up missing; the result is usually decades of torture, and then a permanent death like the ones doled out by Grarg."

Hells Fourth Tour

The captain allows his loyal companion to finish dressing him. He reflects on his fourth tour in the Hells, which occurred 236 years ago. During that time, he found himself battling the fallen angel Siomorta, daughter of the god Chronos. His conflict with her lasted for five years, and some would consider it a war, yet it was the same battle repeating itself in a time loop. This manipulation of time was Siomorta's magical blood power as the daughter of a Time god. At that time, he was serving under Asmodeus with the title Kurgax, signifying his status as a champion of alien origin. He led three diabolic armies against Siomorta's great fortress, a place she called "When the Time is Right," but for the sake of simplicity, he referred to it as Ferrimora.

Ferrimora was a peculiar and captivating place to behold. A casual glance would reveal it in a different light each time. It could appear as the most primitive of structures, walls of stacked rocks; then another look might unveil walls and towers of iron, crystal, or sand, and there were even fortifications designed more for underwater or aerial environments. Rax recalls one of his advisors, after whom Ferrimora was named, peering over an earthen parapet, mesmerized by the sight, saying to him, "These are places of the past, and perhaps the future." Tragically, this was her final utterance, as a ballista bolt swiftly claimed her life moments later. After a time, Rax abandoned the effort to document the battles. Each time victory seemed assured, Siomorta reversed time, forcing the battle to start anew. The belligerents fought each other hundreds of times. Only when Rax's infiltrators successfully infiltrated her palace did the final battle play out.

The captain composes himself, completes fastening the soiled boot, and rises, observing Siomorta's Timepiece. This lone spoil of battle was the consequence for squandering so much time engaged in the same conflict repetitively. His dark overlord reprimanded, "Henceforth, concentrate on the prime objectives, and permit the ground forces to manage their own kind. You are a Kurgax; conduct yourself accordingly." Asmodeus's assertion being that they should have targeted Siomorta much sooner, rather than delaying five years to infiltrate her palace as dishonorable assassins.

Grarg, his sword unsheathed at his side, telepathically informs him with unwavering certainty, "No, it was a punishment for taking the life of one he once cherished, though he commanded you to do so. I have perused these thoughts as many times as you have pondered them, and from these ancient recollections and others, it appears that Asmodeus and Siomorta may have once harbored a love for one another."

Hells Sixth Tour

During Hells Sixth Tour, when he journeyed to the Hells system for the sixth time to serve Apoxlin's Sentence, he participated in a naval invasion against the Devil empire of Magax-Taroth. This vassal state was accountable to Asmodeus. Owing to its tardiness in paying the required tribute, Rax was dispatched to collect it. Rax was captured while assaulting the enemy's principal island. As a prisoner, he was informed that Magax-Taroth's tradition dictates that a captain must go down with their ship. Rax retorted, "I'm a general, not a sailor!" His executioner tersely replied, "Don't quibble." Rax contemplated, "Not again. No fair trial with the angels, no fair trial with the devils. So much for them being the embodiments of Law." He was chained to an ebony canoe, taken out to sea, and cast overboard. Three months later, Asmodeus sent a larger force to complete the mission. After the victory, interrogation revealed the location of Asmodeus's favored general. Encrusted with barnacles, they pulled Rax from the sea.

Hells Eighth Tour

On Hell's Eighth Tour, Rax spent a month arduously traversing the submerged depths of a forgotten lake. On its southern end, three hundred feet underwater, he discovered his objective. It was an expanse of dark yellow liquid hugging the lake's bed. This viscous substance served as the entrance to an intra-system rift between Asmodeus's world Nessus, and the world he currently occupied, Stygia. Before passing through this rift, he reflected with disgust on the paltry tasks he had been obliged to perform for a local satrap who claimed absolute authority. The fiend had claimed knowledge of the rift's location on Nessus, but first demanded that Rax handle some delinquent debtors who owed him funds. Once the money was collected, the satrap would disclose the rift's position. Just as Rax was about to cross over, he glanced down at the weighted sack at his side, which contained the severed head of the satrap - removed for misleading him about the rift's true location on the lake's northern end.
