Before becoming the governors of the Tamlêrran Empire, Zenduram was a guild of arcanists more focused on magical pursuits than rule. They studied arcane energy, most followed Arcana, and assisted the rulers, training war mages for Volgad's armies and casting defensive spells about the kingdom's holds. Despite their close relationship with Nithian's rulers, they typically avoided involvement in politics. This changed during the Cinyossion Conflict. In this war, Volgad battled the Gadstill Dynasty. As Volgad's capital neared fall, Zenduram's wizards saved nearly 18,000 citizens, teleporting them far north to Magrâbik. In this new land, on another continent, the Zenduram were called upon for leadership and protection. On 528 HE, by the will of the people, these wizards became the governors of the Tamlêrran Empire.
The Zenduram government is a magocracy, governed by wizard-rulers, each overseeing a Tamlêrran state. They convene in council as equals, deliberating on sorcery, national defense, and other political issues. They are constrained by Tamlêrran's feared Brain Inspectors, the secret police. Though they answer directly to the Zenduram, they are bound by solemn oaths, providing comprehensive reports to each wizard-ruler, ensuring the affairs of every state are closely observed by all.
The arch-mages of Zenduram collaborated during the waning days of the First Epoch, harnessing their collective magical prowess to establish the Elemantum Boundary Ward. This mystical barrier tempered the frigid climate of Igas and the scorching heat of Anbueth.
The wizard-governors of Zenduram are not without internal discord. One of their internal feuds catalyzed the rise of the beholder dominion Abhômaipeth.
