Formed during the Lith-Crillion Era, the Radiant Cross was established by Tragaran citizens of the Tilnangau empire between 446 LE and 2615 LE . They were devout warriors, worshiping the deity Phalgas. When the demons of Varelay forced them underground, nearly four hundred members of the Radiant Cross engaged in guerrilla tactics. They created a branch of holy assassins tasked with eliminating enemy leadership. On one operation, they eliminated the top brass and strategists of Drachlaz, accidentally releasing several dozen vampires from the city's prison in the process.

In the year 911 HE, Radiant Cross persuaded the Smizerak Federation to take the battle to the vampires' stronghold in the rugged region known as the Blood Triangle. During the First Merioss Crusade ( 911 HE - 920 HE ) , they succeeded in vanquishing the vampire leaders of Drachlaz.

The great wealth, trust, and security provided by the order, accumulated over centuries, established them as the preferred bankers for the region and others seeking a secure repository for their funds.

In the Third Epoch, the collapse of the Torgilm Confederacy ( 1475 - 1719 ) integrated several hundred minotaurs into the order's membership.
