The Thought Trust is a small collective of approximately 400 dwarves, established after Deep Six explorers discovered ancient colonies originally set up by a group of early liberated slave ancestors of the Incarsabec Rebellion (1531 HE - 1544 HE). The Trust, as it is known, was formed as a consequence of the exploration of those colonies on the Boshrin peninsula.
Within the ruins, logs documented some of the initial organizational efforts of the recently liberated slaves. These logs outlined plans to create and utilize a psionic item that would harness the immense psionic potential of the githyanki and githzerai to defend against their illithid enslavers. However, the logs revealed that early divisions among the githyanki and githzerai were already emerging. Consequently, the records suggest the item was never actually developed.
Upon receiving this intelligence, Deep Six promptly recognized the potential advantages in the increasingly perilous situation involving the illithids. With only a contingent of psychic warriors and fewer psions at their disposal, the dwarves had to leverage the teachings and expertise of psionicists from a guild known as Gray Matter to develop this item. Notably, the blue goblin Psion-Spit, renowned for mapping the fundamental components of psionics through mental exploration and fabricating various psionic artifacts, played a crucial role in this endeavor.
Relying on a goblin was challenging, but the dwarves were astounded by Spits' success. Confined within a chamber he had created, he accomplished nothing. In reality, he had constructed a psionic training chamber where the walls, floor, and ceiling were the very item. He dubbed it the Great Mithril Chamber as a jest upon the dwarves, who did not grasp the sophisticated humor, but appreciated any allusion to the esteemed metal, despite the absence of mithril in the room. The chamber would function solely with a block of bedrock in the walls, ceiling, and floor, originating from beneath the great illithid city Penumbra. Those with more innate psionic talents would train in such a room for 6 months, never leaving its confines, to acquire the powers of the Slayer.
