In the Dawn Era, Githyon acted as an advisor to Ptah. Akin to his master and teacher, he dedicated himself to the intensive study of psychic energy. His experiments culminated in the psionic techniques presently recognized as Energy Exchange, through which a subject's Energy Composition is exchanged with alternative energy forms.
In 2219 DE, in a secret laboratory on Ghífthauk, he crafted the inaugural Githzerai and, a couple of days later, the first of the Githyanki race. These novel species were fashioned from earth archons, exchanging the archons' Earth Energy with life energy. This ethically dubious work led to the enactment of the Covenant, which prohibited further use of Energy Exchange, except to Redeem those who had been corrupted.
