The Last Saints of Gûn were three religious leaders, "resistance fighters" of the occupied city-state of Maharâg. Captured during the Black Tide War (1465 - 1486), they were sentenced to a "long death," the order signed by the lich Katrana. In the Psyche Breakers, they remained immersed in these tanks for ninety years, seventy of which they were still alive, forgotten, presumed lost to the ravages of the Black Tide. The three prisoners endured for so long due to bracelets of regenerative magic, which provided them with sufficient life energy to keep them alive. Centuries later, Katrana would admit that she simply forgot about those unfortunate prisoners.
In 1571, treasure hunters forcibly entered Fell Post. They fought through the facility's undead denizens and discovered a secret chamber containing three immersion tanks. They removed the bracelets from what appeared to be preserved corpses floating in a mystical liquid. These bracelets possessed regenerative magic, sustaining Kûl Sizdu, Khâl-Zind, and Mazir for seventy years, despite their constant physical and psychological torment. Upon removal of the bracelets, the three individuals perished.
In 1591, four decades after the Black Tide's expulsion from the Lands of Purity during the Athenian Crusade (1539 - 1551), the remains of these clerics were discovered and revived. These avenging saints, champions of righteousness, committed themselves to eradicating the undead and vanquishing the Black Tide.
In 1711, the Last Saints of Gûn vanquished Katrana's physical manifestation. Surrounded by an island of undead, they lacked the time to locate the lich's phylactery, and could only hope their sacred venom would impede her resurgence. This toxin, the Sweat of Danzar-Khâl, compelled Katrana to forget the whereabouts of her spiritual vessel. It was not until 1810, 99 years later, that she reclaimed her phylactery and commenced the reconstruction of her corporeal form.
When Katrana reeled from the Sweat of Danzar-Khâl, the Last Saint Kûl Sizdu declared:
The impending event will not prove fatal, but will initiate the fragmentation and eventual collapse of the Black Tide.
