Last Ralban, a Tragaran, was raised in an orphanage within the bustling city of Elgatâz. Despite being frequently teased for his unusual first name, this may have contributed to his eventual renown. Over a remarkable three-decade adventuring career, while his record of safeguarding his companions was not impeccable, Ralban's extensive writings have proven invaluable to the adventuring community. He authored 22 meticulously detailed books chronicling his triumphs and missteps, collectively known as "Ralban's Travels." These works are widely studied in military academies, avidly consumed for pure entertainment and humor, and attentively reviewed by both aspiring and veteran adventurers.

His last book, "Among Pawns," exposes how he maintained a steady stream of adventurers even after accounts of death and perilous expeditions. In this work, he recounts that early in his adventuring career, he was a member of a group called Cinduk's Chosen. As a new recruit, he was primarily valued for his ranger skills. Cinduk's Chosen were exploring an ancient ruin of Sareon known as Gronvakul, once the abode of a primordial naga named Rilthang. The group was nearly decimated in this ruin, assailed by ghostly nagas and other supernatural entities. Last Ralban was the sole survivor, but not without a heavy price. Cornered by the specters, he was compelled to take and forever wear a necklace containing the soul of Rilthang. Fulfilling this task would break the curse on the ruin, allowing the fallen to rest and preventing others from becoming ghosts at Gronvakul. This necklace significantly enhanced Last Ralban's cunning and charisma.

My words and charm were akin to the storied legends of Rilthang. Though lacking in leadership capabilities, I could persuade even the most doubtful, for they soon forgot the infamy surrounding my expeditions, which were often marked by high casualty rates, as we conversed and became acquainted. I never lacked for fellow adventurers, and when we encountered issues with border patrols or hostile parties, I could talk my way through, though the same could not always be said for those accompanying me. If I required an audience with a king or satrap to investigate some imperial tomb, I would bend their will with my words, which no doubt derived their power from the esteemed Rilthang.
