Sahuld is the second-largest island in the Necrocrypt archipelago. During the Horgon Era, it served as a hunting ground for the Abâthigûran empire, which ensured the island remained a wild, unsettled locale, shielded from the region's notorious violent storms. After the fall of Abâthigûr in 1011 HE, the islands collectively known as Necrocrypt gained a reputation for their undead inhabitants. For a time, Sahuld remained untainted. Losing their master's holdings, the Hydrocur retreated to this island, using Durkoth tomes to create creatures specialized in combating the undead. However, their efforts proved futile as the undead from Necrocrypt's main island eventually spread to Sahuld. Rot reavers and other undead-slaying specialists now roam this island.
In 999, numerous Borillisk refugees, fleeing the cataclysmic events of the Gulimbor Cataclysm, settled upon the island of Sahuld. They managed to persist for slightly over a century before being completely eradicated by threats originating from the main island of Gathrot, home to the dreaded Necrocrypt.
In the Third Epoch, the Black Tide retreated to Necrocrypt. They perceived Sahuld's rugged terrain and ancient guardians as not worth the effort to clear. They re-established Mezzorn on the isle's southern tip, guarding the sea approaches to Necrocrypt's main island, the heart of an undead empire with countless foes. Under the reign of the Second Dead Council of the Black Tide, the island was transformed into a arena, akin to the late Abâthigûran tradition, an area for testing a soldier or unit's mettle or dispatching those who had fallen out of favor to their demise.
Sahuld is a rugged island, carved by deep gorges and defiles, and frequently blanketed by verdant vegetation and sweeping rain and wind. Even with the Black Tide controlling Necrocrypt, the undead generally steer clear of Sahuld's northern half. This area is home to a multitude of creatures specialized in combating the undead. Beyond the likes of rot reavers, there are beasts and predatory plants brought in from islands across Midrêth, the deadliest and most cunning, once subjects of the Abâthigûran big game hunt that have endured.
