In the Hedrac War (996 - 999), the government of Borillisk and thousands of others selected by lottery fled to an ancient edifice called Cerebrum. Originally a Durkoth observatory for the stars, during the First Epoch it had become a place dedicated to mental and physical study. Funded by old Borilliskan wealth, Cerebrum now served as the new capital for these followers of the Path of Thought.
The land was torn by the Gulimbor Cataclysm, treaty or not. Borillisk split in two, with half her population migrating west into Azrik to join one of the minotaur states, while the remainder traveled north across the sea to Sahuld. The decision to settle on this island remains enigmatic. Sahuld's history was well-documented, serving as a sanctuary to ward off the undead from the nearby island, yet situated close enough to Necrocrypt's principal island, Gathrot, that no rational individual would risk establishing a civilization there.
Ermikel the Balance, from the Borillisk Archive - "Borillisk on Sahuld"
In 1131, news spread of a virulent plague afflicting Cerebrum and the other Sahuld settlements. The Kal-Oni Empire, centered on the coasts of Hells Womb and primarily composed of Tragarans who had escaped Gulimbor during the Great Exodus (998 - 1017), dispatched ships south in what became known as the Sahuld Blockade. Their decision not to provide aid was an act of revenge for the Hedrac Treaty. To many Tragarans, Borillisk had turned their backs on their own kind. Over the ensuing months, only a few people managed to escape the plague. The majority of Borillisk's population succumbed to a disease that proved resistant to most forms of magic. Ultimately, there were insufficient healers to tend to the multitude of sick and dying.
In the Black Tide War (1465 - 1486), Cerebrum evolved into a perilous undead production facility, a place dedicated to manufacturing undead soldiers for the Black Tide of Thasmudyan.
