Asoun, a brilliant-minded primordial, created a specialized jelly-like organism he called Arhidine. In exchange for allowing it to leech his own life energy, the Arhidine would serve as a vessel for storing arcane energy. Being immune to magic and incapable of channeling arcane energy through his body, Asoun relied on these creations to utilize magic, merely needing to attach them to himself to harness the arcane power within. Discovered centuries later, these organisms were dubbed "energy converters" after someone ascertained that by feeding them, they could be made to rise, descend, and move about - a discovery that eventually led to their use in flight.

Arhidine engines are employed to propel skyships and voidships. They derive their power by harnessing the energy channeled into the engine, such as spells, or even by utilizing the life force of living or undead creatures, which is then converted into arcane energy. Those who employ the life energy method sometimes refer to these as lifejammer engines. Utilizing magic to power these engines is the least efficient approach. Harnessing the life energy of living beings, and the negative energy of the undead, are the most efficient means of powering Arhidine engines.

These types of engines are extensively utilized. Some examples of vessels equipped with them include Harvesters, the Hollow of Sargos, and craft belonging to the Arachnidion Empire.
