In the inaugural year of the Dawn Era, Piranoth, a Primordial endowed with the Powers of Creation, commenced the formation of worlds from the energy and matter drifting aimlessly throughout Chaos. Hastening his work and crafting an excessive number of realms without proper planning, latent energies infiltrated his creations. One hypothesis suggests that an entity took umbrage with his actions, tainting the work of the order-bringer, thereby violating the Primordial Mandate.
Piranoth's inaugural realm, the Step of Foundation, appears to have been the epicenter of the ensuing corruption. Replete with numerous rifts, this world functioned as a conduit, funneling energies and matter from Chaos into the expansive network of stars and worlds that would later be designated as Piranoth's Steps.
The Hirstyr Signir monolith bears inscriptions claiming that over millennia, the Step of Foundation absorbed corrupting and malevolent soul energies. This dark energy descended to the first world, coalesced, and then radiated outward along the rifts like tendrils of corruptive darkness. These tendrils were malign energies that merged with the entropic forces of Chaos, referred to by Bruh Kreniik as the Threads of Damnation.
The Threads of Damnation are blamed for the rise of the demons, denizens of what is now more commonly referred to as the Abyss.
