Cari'phis is a primordial frost giant. Her physique emanates such extreme cold that even those immune to ordinary chill are susceptible to the unholy cold radiating from her. She was the wife of Thyrm, and was thus frequently referred to as the Ice Queen. Prior to this, she served Piranoth on the worlds of Piranoth's Steps. While assisting in shaping a world simply named the Ice Wastes, she was affected by the dark threads traversing Piranoth's domains. When she was seized by Covenant forces, her physical form had undergone a complete transformation, with the remnants of her frost giant nature replaced by a demonic abomination.
In the Creation War (1486 DE - 8777 DE), within the northern regions of Gorejun, Cari'phis engaged the Covenant forces under Danzar-Khâl. Renowned for her formidable power, some have likened her to the Nine Tongue Worm, prompting the deployment of a specialized squad.
After being captured by the Golden Seven, Ares was entrusted with the task of escorting her to the Prison Continent. However, for personal reasons, Ares took it upon himself to have her unceremoniously dumped into COA 411, the Cube of Arcane in Bal-Kriav. Before the Quara'tun Judges, Ares claimed it was an accident, asserting that the magical net holding her broke apart from being too close to the Cube's powerful energies. From the trial, it is recorded that Lukoon, a fellow Covenant general, quipped:
So you escorted her across the Cube on your journey to Denerra, foregoing the circumnavigation? Oh, Ares, we must convene sometime and indulge in refreshments.

Deeply enraged by this incident, Thyrm became an eternal adversary of Ares. It remains unknown if Cari'phis perished from falling into the Cube. In 1801, the valiant heroes of Crimson Eye ventured into parts of the Igas Region. They encountered elite Artaxertus soldiers bearing her emblem emblazoned on their armor and shields. Whether this signifies Thyrm preserving the memory of her or that she has amassed a devoted following is yet to be determined.
The evolving nature of the Ice Cap region may have stemmed from Cari'phis being cast into the Cube. The dark blue ice expansion emanating from the Cube's direction commenced approximately three centuries following her vanishing into the Cube, lending credence to these hypotheses.
