Early in the Creation War, mortals lacked the numbers and strength to confront the formidable armies of the primordials. The Nawirrûs Covenant established Andibutt as a refuge for mortals residing in northern Ara'phis and southern Narbuzad. During the war, it was a heavily garrisoned location, with an entire army of angels stationed there when not under threat. In times of siege or conflict in the sector, Andibutt and the surrounding flood plains could witness several armies numbering 200,000 soldiers. Andibutt, one of the Mortal Refuges of Bal-Kriav, changed hands numerous times in a war spanning over 6,000 years. The fortification is of colossal proportions, with sloped walls rising 100 feet, followed by an additional 200 feet, featuring fighting decks at intervals of 50 feet. The towers are equally immense, resembling sturdy structures of concrete and rebar. The varying heights of these towers ensured that if one were to be captured, there would be a high probability of it being fired upon by a neighboring, higher tower.

By the midpoint of the Creation War, Andibutt's people had joined forces with Covenant soldiers. As the conflict encompassed not only the world but the entire Nawirrûs system, Andibutt's army recruits frequently became the initial mortal colonists of distant lands and continents.

In 8409 DE, agents of Mephirouth infiltrated the city's sewers and transformed it into a breeding and incubation ground for green slimes, deadly molds, black puddings, otyughs, and rats of all kinds. The outbreak of sickness from this initial Plague Gullet became so severe that the city was set ablaze and subsequently abandoned in 8419 DE. Disease outbreaks continued to plague the ruins during the ensuing Demon Spawn War, the conflict that followed in the wake of the Creation War. As a result, even the demons generally avoided the area.

Mephirouth, possessing the seemingly unkillable capacity to transfer his consciousness on a whim, is believed to have long departed the region. Nevertheless, the threat of disease persists. The skeletons of robust creatures, including dragons, have been discovered in their lairs without any visible injuries, leading some to conclude that the area remains perilous for habitation.
