At the base of the Zigil mountain lies a grand temple. Carved directly from the mountainside, it is an impressive ziggurat with passages fit for giants. Constructed in 2 GE, it was erected as a memorial to the Earthen who served under Storralk during the Abyssal Release, a conflict that spanned from 7777 DE to 8777 DE.
At the center of the Earth Shrine stand ornate stone gates depicting charging earth archons. Magnificent to behold, with wondrous sculpting and colossal dimensions - 200 feet high, 50 feet wide, and 25 feet thick - they move with ease for any Earthen, yet remain unmovable to others without the assistance of a team of elephants or giants. Beyond these doors lies a sealed rift to the Chaos realm.
In 1080, the Earth Shrine was overrun by the legions of Phelehorn. Facing near-defeat, the shrine's protectors unsealed the rift, unleashing a torrent of rocks and boulders. All who were injured by this onslaught became afflicted with the virulent malady known as the Earth Skin Rot.
