Einreth is a desolate wasteland of Voternil. In 1251, the region was shaken by the High Wood Quake. This event resulted in the opening of numerous feywild fuses, linking the Einreth Forest with another distant realm on the world of Kriav. As is commonplace with Rifts, a surge of transferred energies followed. Einreth, once a verdant forest, was transformed into a desolate wasteland as a powerful influx of nature energy coursed through the area.

When she was still a member of the Nature Protectorate, the druidess Aredhel conducted a study on this region and Baranarth, a similarly transformed location to the north. Aredhel noted:

The area's plant life was overwhelmed by an excessive abundance of nutrients, beyond their capacity to thrive, resulting in their demise. The vegetation now covering Einreth closely resembles the flora found on Kriav's side of the rift.

A lush and thriving woodland, teeming with an abundance of flora and fauna, has now been reduced to a mere shadow of its former self. Einreth has been transformed into a desolate and barren wasteland, serving as the domain for malevolent entities that have emerged from the subterranean realms of Kriav. These creatures infiltrate our world through fleeting feywild fuses, tainting and corrupting our realm.

Aredhel, regional report delivered at a Glade Summit - "The Aftermath of the High Wood Quake"

Einreth is dotted with rugged spires, treacherous marshes, and spouting geysers. Only the most resilient of flora can endure the harsh conditions. Occasionally, the region's yawning sink-holes and fissures, far below, lead to a distant otherworldly realm, beckoning daring travelers to venture forth.

The wetlands of Einreth provide sanctuary to bloodbloater oozes and bloodthorns, while the rugged, uneven landscape serves as the dwelling place for bonespears, death dogs, and groups of shadow giants. Creatures from the underground realms sometimes emerge and conduct raids on the adjacent forests. The most perilous of these raiders are those under the leadership of the Drow or the fomorians.
