During the Horgon Era, the Zeymah'kein Empire sought to expand their territory into the resource-rich peaks of Trudnar. In the southeastern flanks of this volcanic mountain range, the Imrithil encountered stiff resistance from hobgoblin forces out of Garâtha. When the Kriistvrii army was within sight of Valefor, hobgoblin wizards opened a gate to the Abyss. An army of demons stormed out and laid waste to the attacking army. The Imrithil were routed, and instead of being on the offensive, they were forced to go on a prolonged defense that lasted almost twenty years. During this time, they built up a massive series of fortifications and walls along the western slopes of Hlothram. These fortifications became known as the Hlothram Defense Network.
Hlothram Bildrun Rigevoth, or HBR, consists of an extensive network of forts, towers, and fortified walls spanning a fifty-mile stretch where Hlothram borders the Dargirth. These fortifications are meticulously engineered and constructed to defend against ground, aerial, and subterranean assaults. They also incorporate distinctive features designed to counter threats of immense size and area-of-effect attacks. The structures are predominantly built using basalt, obsidian, and lava stone.
When the demons of Garâtha mysteriously vanished, Zeymah'kein concluded that the immense cost of sustaining and stationing troops within the expansive fortifications was unsustainable. Consequently, Hlothram Bildrun Rigevoth was forsaken to the wilderness. The fortifications of the region remain largely intact to this day, serving as the dwellings of bandits, monsters, and other entities. Regrettably, some areas have succumbed to the ravages of floods or been submerged due to the shifting flow of the Dargirth.
