Map Trudnar Mountains

The Trudnar highlands are two parallel mountain ranges flanking the Agulbandal depression. During the Demon Spawn War, the primordial lord Surtur was a questionable ally of the Quara'tun Covenant. Like he did against the Covenant in the previous war, in the war against the demons, he used his control of lava to create Volcanoes. These were often so devastating to the surrounding land that the Covenant was reluctant to use them. In 98 GE, the demon armies of Demogorgon invaded Hells Womb. For a decade, there was extensive fighting among these demon legions. The Covenant observed no clear leadership, as the demons were more interested in fighting each other and did not pose a threat to other sectors. When they started pushing north into Inirthak, uniting with purpose, the Covenant leadership authorized Surtur to use his powers. The fiery terra-forming began near the two northern heads of the Trudnar mountains. Surtur created the volcanoes Vaermund and Typhalumus. Their frequent eruptions were such that most of the time, Demogorgon's legions resorted to going around the Agulbandal depression, which was streaked with lava flows and dotted with impact craters.

These mountains are exceedingly resource-rich. Precious gemstones, iron, gold, and volcanic stone comprise its most valuable resources. During the Horgon Era, the Zeymah'kein Empire endeavored to expand into these peaks, coveting the region's lucrative gold deposits. However, they were thwarted by hordes of demons emerging from GarĂ¢tha. Marked by a volatile landscape of searing heat and noxious gases, the export of the area's gold and iron did not become a serious undertaking until the rise of the fire empire Surticon.
