Hulkurân is a colossal fortress poised on the edge of a plateau overlooking the southernmost reach of Sahânzar. The stronghold was constructed by enslaved giants and designed to garrison an entire army of such formidable creatures. During the Third Ugradrath War, nearly all the citadel's giants were slain, prompting the conversion of the barracks into living quarters for Khazarkar troops. At the heart of the citadel stands a mammoth base, upon which rests a gargantuan statue of Set. The sheer size and strength of this statue are such that it functions as a tower with numerous floors and fighting balconies. This imposing monument is visible from the northern approach to the fortress. Hulkurân is the last major stronghold before entering the demilitarized zone between the Orchish Empire and the Khazarkar Empire.

In the Cinazan Front, forces of the Flux Pact pillaged this location. They did not linger long, nor dedicate significant time to plundering, instead pressing eastward towards Barun-Mitân where the 15,000-strong Neeth-Theen army was encircled and annihilated.
