Hull Bottom Atoll

The Hull Bottom Atoll is a shallow sea area east of Ivagor. During storms, this region is given a wide berth. Scattered across the atoll are testaments to what happens when one is blown into this area or blindly sails into it. Hundreds of wrecks and sunken hulks litter the reef. Though hazardous for large vessels, smaller craft can always be found in the vicinity. These are fishing boats from the atoll's villages and some brought in from Ivagor's larger settlements. Several of these wrecks serve as the abodes of Scrag, Sahuagin, and other aquatic creatures that, when it comes to feeding, perceive no difference between humanoid swimmers and fish.

In the Black Tide War, forces commanded by Admiral Jairall hastily erected fortifications in this region through the use of magic. These strongholds were constructed as part of Jairall's Sea Fern Strategy, intended to threaten the maritime supply routes between Ivory Asylum and the coastal ports of the Farinteen Dynasty. Jairall's ultimate objective was to seize control of Ulpa should naval supremacy be achieved. However, this endeavor proved to be a futile expenditure of time and resources, as Jairall's forces were unable to secure dominance over the atoll and the expansive sea lanes surrounding it. Today, most of these structures lie in ruin, weathered by the relentless waves and lack of maintenance. The few that remain serve as dwellings for fishermen, towers or keeps belonging to wealthy individuals or trade companies, lairs for sea hags or other monstrosities, or perhaps even as hideouts for pirates.
