Sahuagin

In the Demon Spawn War ( 89 GE - 269 GE ) , one of the peoples who collaborated closely with the Covenant was the tritons. They served in regions where aquatic demons jeopardized commerce and land operations. In 255 GE, the Covenant's highest commander, Asmodeus, was banished from the Mortal Systems and transformed into a Fallen Angel. Many thousands chose loyalty over service, following their former commander to his distant world. One of these was a triton unit named the 82 ^nd Last Hope. On Nessus, an alien realm to them, and in a system that changed annually, they were reshaped by the very nature of the Forge Worlds. Over the course of nine years, the 82 ^nd were tempered by war and imbued with a sinister essence, transformed into a malevolent incarnation of their former triton selves, becoming the first of the Sahuagin race.

On the 9th of War March in the year 271 GE, the 82 ^nd Legion and their descendants departed the seas of Nessus to return to their ancestral waters on the world of Bal-Kriav. They were tasked with establishing a new life for themselves and, more crucially for their former commander, potential wellsprings of divine energy, as well as proselytizers and followers to further Asmodeus's objective of Ascension.
