Source Higher Powers

Divine energy emanates from the Higher Powers. When priests petition their god(s) for spells, divine energy is bestowed upon them. Akin to a mage's reliance on arcane energy to power their spells, priest spells are fueled by divine energy. Those who earnestly worship another generate divine energy.

The Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE) was much more than a conflict between the Covenant and the Abyssal Hegemony. It represented a period when prominent leaders felt a compulsion to transcend their mortal limitations. They sensed a pull from beyond the Mortal Systems, a pathway to Ascension. This pull is Divine Energy, which the Ascendant becomes a conduit for. The Ascendant's followers generate this divine energy through worship, making it one of the few energy types that function in this manner.

When a Higher Power is vanquished, all those who worshipped them are severed from their divine source. This condition persists until they dedicate themselves to another Higher Power. One such recent occurrence transpired in 1695, when the god-spawned usurper Rax slew Coeus. With the Church of Coeus cut off from all divine energy, the task of establishing another faith was considerably simplified.
