The 82nd Last Hope was a division-sized unit that served under the Covenant during the Demon Spawn War. Composed entirely of Tritons, they served under Asmodeus in the Covenant's naval special operations. Deeply loyal to Asmodeus, even above Covenant interests, they would have followed him to their demise.
"How did he manage to transform all those Triton legionnaires into devil-kin?" - Sathel
"The tritons of the 82 nd Last Hope were bound by an ancestral loyalty pact, forged through ancient primordial rituals dating back to the Dawn Era. It appears our former CSC had been secretly exploring this forbidden primordial magic." - Athena

In 255 GE, Asmodeus, now a Fallen Angel (255 GE) , was exiled to the Forge Worlds. The 82nd was one of nine units that followed Asmodeus into exile. On these nine hellish worlds, slowly corrupted by negative entropy and unholy energy, the soldiers of these units were transformed, with the former Triton of the Last Hope reshaped into the first members of the Sahuagin race.
On 9 War March 271 GE, the 82 nd and their descendants departed the waters of Nessus for their ancestral seas on the world of Bal-Kriav. They were tasked with establishing a new life for themselves and, more crucially for their former commander, potential wellsprings of divine energy, evangelists and devotees assisting Asmodeus on the Path of Ascension.
Two months after returning to their former patrol areas on Bal-Kriav, the 82nd captured the city-state of Har Karib. Intimately acquainted with this ancient Covenant citadel and its every secret passage, the attack was an utter surprise. The victorious leader, a lich general named Dreshbine, governed Har Karbib for three centuries.
In the year 339 LE, the belligerent nation of Har Karib and its militant ruler were vanquished by the Pact of Nielalroch. The 82 nd provided cover for the retreat, escorting a contingent of 30,000 displaced citizens on a tumultuous expedition of warfare and subjugation.
