Built by the Quara'tun Covenant, Har Karib originally served as an underwater bastion, garrisoned by Trition units and a diverse array of aquatic lifeforms. A vast underwater complex with meandering coral tunnels, Har Karib was once the heart of an expansive network of undersea fortifications stretching outward for ten miles in all directions. This formidable defensive matrix, known as the Maze Yards, was so colossal that during the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE), it required 20,000 defenders to maintain its strategic effectiveness. Although the site never reached full capacity, it was envisioned as the operational center for the western coastline of Brucrumus.
In 271 GE, two years after the Demon Spawn War, Har Karbib fell to the 82nd Last Hope regiment. For the subsequent three centuries, the city was governed by a sahuagin lich known as Dreshbine, the commander of the Last Hope. Dreshbine's reign was characterized by unrelenting military aggression. Beneath her authority were scores of proselytizers, each charged with disseminating the dogma of Asmodeus.
In 331 LE, the Pact of Nielalroch was forged by five triton city-states seeking to eliminate Dreshbine. Captured in 339 LE, the city's sahuagin, led by the 82nd, were driven out. Two years later, in 341 LE, Har Karib became the capital of the Caradruk Republic.
