Map Kimaris Mountains

Beginning in the eastern Ma'Ohari lands, the Kimaris mountain range extends southward across the lava fields of Malephar, eventually reaching the Azrik region. Bending towards the southeast, these peaks played a crucial role in safeguarding lands to the south during the devastating Gulimbor Cataclysm, which spanned the years (996 - 1203). Continuing eastward, the Kimaris range finally terminates within the Gulimbor region.

The mountains were granted their most renowned appellation by Kimaris, who was then the demon sovereign of the Varelay Empire (684 LE - 2620 LE). Surmising that the mountains would endure long after his passing, he ensured his name would be immortalized.

The northeastern slopes of Kimaris are pocketed with iron, tin, and platinum mines. This area poses hazards such as chaos rocs, mooncalves, and high concentrations of fiendish grell. These grell are half-fiend creations from the demon labs of Varelay, used to terrorize the peoples of Dark Belly. Several of Kimaris' platinum mines were utilized for mining and experimenting on mortal creatures like the grell and any other beings they could obtain. These mines became so tainted with entropic energies that their platinum became chaos infused. The resulting Varelay Platinum commands high prices due to its exotic nature and the streams of smoke that periodically break the metal's surface.

In the First Epoch, the northern reaches of Kimaris fell under the dominion of the Goth-Dyvermoir Empire. They extract precious resources from the mountainous peaks and revel in the scorching heat of the volcanic wastes that surround them. The region is fortified with imposing citadels and outposts. The deep ravines and rugged landscape are traversed by massive iron bridges, sturdy enough to support the weight of a team of mastodons and their fire giant handlers.
