Mannakhôr was founded in 454 by the First Khazarkar Empire and the Kingdom of Burterinii. It was envisioned as a place where both peoples could coexist and mend the centuries-old tensions between the Tragarans and the Khazarkars. However, the endeavor did not succeed, as the two sides engaged in constant espionage and intrigue. After two decades, the First Khazarkar Empire seized full control of the city, relegating the Tragarans to a subordinate status.
In the latter half of the First Epoch, Mannakhôr was a prominent center of learning and the sole oceanic port of the First Khazarkar Empire. The city boasted wide brick boulevards, expansive parks, and elaborate statues and fountains along its main thoroughfares. The dominant architectural features were the universities, libraries, and auditoriums, many of which were once ornately adorned with Anûkh'grush Crystal - the trademark multi-hued crystals of the wealthier structures of the First Khazarkar Empire.
During the Gulimbor Cataclysm (996 - 1203), the city was diminished to a state of ruin by catastrophic earthquakes and corrosive rainfall. The surrounding countryside was transformed into a desolate wasteland akin to the Broken Lands. However, in the centuries since, nature has largely reclaimed and restored the landscape around Mannakhôr.
Mannakhôr is occasionally referred to as Screaming Gales due to the region's formidable storms. The baying of shadow mastiffs, the songs of harpies, and the piercing wailing of banshee are commonplace for those traversing the nearby coastlines. These unsettling sounds are most prominent near the numerous sea caves bordering the dilapidated harbor. Explorers venturing into the area have encountered substantial populations of harpies and banshee within the caves and ruins. The location gained significance when explorers from the Khazarkar Empire uncovered ancient texts pertaining to the history of Black Chariot.
