The Sagren hills lie to the west of Lake Boraresh. They are often referred to as the Red Foot Hills, named for the area's crimson soil that stains the soles of footwear and one's feet. The goblin tribes inhabiting this region, who eschew wearing shoes, are collectively known as the "Redfoots". These goblins reside in an expansive network of tunnels and warrens. When it suits their interests, they provide tribute to the Orchish Empire. In times of conflict, the Orchish Empire seeks them out by the thousands. Many of these mercenaries are destined for sapper units or other excavation projects, as they have proven to be unreliable in organized formations.
The rolling hills of the area are dotted with openings to underground passages. Some of these descend into the sector of Kazgon within the subterranean region of Imgangreth. The most renowned of these is the Naruzûd Passage. The vassal city-state of Brogtrun serves as the primary stop along this surface-to-Underdark route. Raiders from this city frequently mount incursions into Sagren, capturing slaves, or undertaking the far riskier endeavor of looting the goblin warrens.
