A product of the Covenant's experimentation, with a serpent-like neck connected to a spider's body, Mokerrian was the first Neogi. The Neogi were created to patrol a vast industrial area on Avernus called the Iron Yards, a rugged region with deep gorges, ravines, and sinkholes. This act of creation was part of the ongoing process since the Dawn Era, with primordials and the Covenant generating new races to aid in the conflict. The Neogi were secretly crafted to assist forces under Asmodeus in monitoring the ironworks and shops, as demons constantly probed and raided the area. One such raid resulted in a prison break, and Mokerrian, escaping a military lab on Malbolge, hid herself in a supply caravan heading to Cryphoeca. On this world, Mokerrian kick-started the Neogi civilization, going on to produce thousands of broods.
By the culmination of the Horgon Era, Cryphoeca's neogi empires had eradicated the majority of their world's animal and humanoid inhabitants. This protracted period of strife became widely recognized as the Great Neogi War. The conflict was a contest for resources, with each faction's populations serving as the ultimate spoils.
For the Neogi, there is no distinction between consuming a deceased slave and consuming a dead Neogi - both are simply sustenance. They regard cannibalism as a practical method of culling the weak, as their sinister mindset views the weak as a drain on resources better suited for those most likely to survive and thrive. This concept of size holds great significance among their kind, with the largest and most corpulent Neogi held in the highest regard. Those Neogi who possess sizable slaves are viewed with even greater esteem.

The Neogi civilization and their race were saved from the brink of starvation on 19 Hollow 1946 HE. On this fateful day, a Suellk voidship landed near the Neogi ruin Salticidae on Cryphoeca. The exploration mission ended in tragedy, with the ship's entire crew being captured and consumed. The seized voidship was then studied and reverse-engineered by the Neogi. A century later, the Neogi were undertaking expeditions into the Void, collecting lifeforms to repopulate and cultivate on their world. They raided extensively, gathering sustenance and slaves from the worlds of the Quara'tun System.
The neogi are intelligent beings. They forge alliances with other races if doing so advances their objectives. Regrettably, these pacts often conclude in a rancorous manner, with the neogi betraying their former allies, enslaving them, or indulging their voracious appetites.
