The 222nd Battalion, better known as the Vek Viing, was a military unit that served under Bahamut in the First Dragon Wake (218 GE - 235 GE). It was a specialized operations unit tasked with covert missions behind enemy lines. They employed brutal tactics. Bahamut, an independent general allied with the Covenant, acknowledged the 222nd Battalion's effectiveness, though their methods aligned more with the preferences of Asmodeus than others.
After the victory over Tiamat and the winning of the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE), the Vek Viing established themselves in the northwestern regions of Tu Naar. The Kriistvrii with ancestral ties to the 222nd Battalion are collectively known as the Vex Viing. For the most part, they are an unscrupulous group, more inclined toward warfare and mercenary activities than embracing the trappings of civilized society.
In the Horgon Era, they were ostracized by the people of Lumnaar Hok and most holds of the Aerie. Consequently, they allied with the Dominion of Resalth. They sated their craving for battle and assisted in humbling Lumnaar Hok in 899 HE.
