Du'ul Hiim, Draconic for Mountain Crown, was established early in the Horgon Era by the kobold clans of Sendaar Jusk. They constructed the settlement around a dragon tribute site, a dilapidated stadium that had previously been a location for offerings and sacrifices to the ruling dragon of the region. Upon slaying this dragon, the dragon's tribute was utilized to build a trade center connecting the area's five communities.

In the 10th year of the Horgon Era, the town of Du'ul Hiim succumbed to a golden dragon named Artang-Sund. The citizenry were subjugated and then coerced into venerating their new overlord as a divine being; many required little coaxing, adhering to the kobold adage of "make friends, mend in."

The followers of Artang-Sund constructed an immense temple-like fortress known as Gevild, an extraordinary structure that allows dragons to move unencumbered, whether in flight or on the ground. This colossal edifice features expansive "sunning" platforms, cavernous hallways, and grand chambers so vast that a dragon can complete a full aerial circuit within them.

Artang-Sund was frequently absent from Du'ul Hiim for extended periods. Upon his return, he commonly brought back plunder, antique artifacts, and peculiarities such as air motes. He had his subordinates, who by most reports were treated reasonably, employ the air motes in sustaining sizeable spans and other levitating edifices.

In the year 81 HE, Du'ul Hiim was elevated as the capital of the Ashmerthoon Empire.

Du'ul Hiim spans three mountains and extends into their interiors. Substantial bridges connect the towers and numerous levels of the city. Myriad spans are upheld by pockets of air that consistently blow skyward. Fortified by potent sorcery, these pockets of air constitute a form of air mote.
