Gunbil was founded by miners originating from the now-destroyed Phlehorn. It served as a mining depot for the abundant silver and mithril extracted from the Uzdûm and Sûd mining pits. By the time Phlehorn fell, the mining depot had flourished into a prosperous and expansive city. However, the city was left with a diminished military force, as most of its former army had perished in 1080 during the Breaching of the Earth Shrine. Following this tragic event, emissaries from the empires of Hjalmarbrodd and Grimmarsveinn sought to court the city. After extensive deliberations, the public voted in 1082 to join the Kingdom of Hjalmarbrodd.
Also called the Smoking City, Gunbil boasts the region's most significant concentration of smelters. Operating perpetually, these facilities shroud the city in a dense pall of smoke, blackening the buildings and citizenry. North of Gunbil lies Sludge, a polluted lake that serves as an industrial byproduct of the city's prolific manufacturing.
The renowned city of Gunbil is home to a multitude of skilled armor smiths. Within its bustling confines, countless artisans labor tirelessly, surrounded by the cacophony of thousands of tools, forging some of the most resilient and exquisitely crafted metalwork found throughout the realm.
