Altocumuli arose from the great raids of the floating bastion Avalkhirân. The threat of this Dawn Era relic descending from the clouds and obliterating frontier villages and towns was frequently sufficient for them to submit to vassalage or outright join the superior forces of General Yrsuthroa. In 1321, the territories and peoples captured or convinced to fall under his command were united under the Altocumuli empire.
Altocumuli lays claim to the entirety of the region spanning from Bullvar Ika to Syrmal as their established domain.
This autocratic nation is governed by cloud giants. The cities and towns of this evil empire are led by despotic governors who answer to Empress Yrsuthroa. The population of the Altocumuli comprises a diverse array of races - cloud giants, stone giants, Ble-Aarakocra, orcs, gnolls, ogres, and others. The most formidable military force of this nation is the Ghambar Brigade. The cloud giants of this unit are mounted on dire rhinoceros and wield formidable weapons such as saw-tooth spears and serrated lances.
The Altocumuli are bitter adversaries of the "lowlanders" - the inhabitants of Cúthalion, Ancalimë, and Nechi. The elves are their most despised foes, followed by the halflings. The Altocumuli have initiated numerous wars in an effort to annex the territory south of Bullvar Ika. The most renowned conflict between the two was the War of the Fragments.
