Aarakocra, largely obscured from view today, often dwell in remote mountaintops or amidst floating land formations known as earth motes. During the Creation War (1486 DE - 8777 DE), they were created to serve as scouts for the Nawirrûs Covenant. They were highly valued for combat operations requiring speed and numbers.
The aarakocra's skilled aerial prowess stemmed from their purposeful creation by Corellon. They were designed to serve the Covenant as swift avian scouts, possessing vision five times sharper than that of Wood Elves and double the auditory acuity. They once again lent their services during the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE). Afterward, like many other mortal races, they were released into the wild.
Aarakocra, by nature, are virtuous beings. Similar to ordinary avians, they exhibit a diverse array of plumage. Their attributes frequently correspond to their appearance as well, with one individual adorned in crimson feathers akin to a cardinal being cautious, maintaining a safe distance, and approaching only when the situation seems secure. Conversely, there are those whose plumage and head resemble an owl, active during the night hours and resting throughout the day.
