In 1495, Beshrii, a former disciple of Nevicanad, seized control of a monastery known as the Eastern Shar. She enslaved the resident monks and leveraged the ancient manuscripts within the site to substantially bolster her elemental magical abilities. Becoming increasingly ambitious, she commenced assaults on caravans belonging to the Council of Bile and instituted tolls for those traversing the narrow ravines leading to the mines situated south of the monastery.
Several months later, the Council of Bile dispatches a punitive expedition against her. This force is repelled by earthquakes and formidable earth elementals. Toward the close of the year, the Council of Bile assembles an even more substantial contingent, comprising griffons, dragons, and potent mages and clerics; they commence the siege of the Eastern Shar. Some of the Council of Bile's troops utilize Earth Render bows against the defending elementals. Unable to deter the assailants with earth elementals and sorcery, Beshrii summons the Prince of Evil Elementals, Ogremoch.
In the Siege of the Eastern Shar, Beshrii lost control of Ogremoch. The elemental prince turned against her, and a prolonged battle ensued within the halls of Eastern Shar. The conjurer was slain by the very entity they had summoned. Ogremoch, infuriated at being conjured, unleashes a powerful earthquake on the massive pinnacle beneath Eastern Shar. Shielded by ancient draconic magic, the Eastern Shar deflected the earthquake against the surrounding hills and mountains, levelling forests, toppling peaks, and altering the flows of streams and rivers, slaying many of the besieging army. The reverberations of this Earthquake of Ogremoch are felt as far as Paradomea City, which experiences unusually low tides for several days, resulting in numerous vessels becoming stranded in the mud.
With the binding of Beshrii severed, Ogremoch seized the summoning tome of Beshrii, the Earth Binder, and departed the mortal realm.
