The Eastern Shar is situated near the heart of the Gelugon Range. In bygone eras, the imposing pinnacle of rock, towering nearly one mile above the surrounding valley, provided the lair and study for a family of gold dragons. For many centuries, the elves of Gwaeldior collaborated with the great wyrms, exploring potent elemental sorceries.

In 1005, the Eastern Shar was besieged by a formidable Toomrur horde emerging from the rugged Ogre Steps. Hundreds of these fearsome beings were vanquished by fire and sorcery amidst the craggy outcrops surrounding the towering granite citadel. Unable to breach the fortified walls or discover a means of entry, the Toomrur and mercenary bands of mountain giants constructed a colossal bridge from the cliffs to the plateau housing the Eastern Shar. The invaders then pillaged the site, seizing the shiny treasures of the fortress while leaving the ancient texts and scrolls strewn amidst the debris.

Ten years had passed, and the locale now served as the dwelling for a family of wyverns, humanoids, and others, but their tenure there remained tenuous, vulnerable to any new foe who might challenge their claim to the site.

In the year 1056, Tragaran monks from the fallen Kal-Oni Empire discovered the Eastern Shar and commenced the restoration of its ruined structures and libraries. The excavation efforts unearthed ancient texts and scrolls containing arcane knowledge long since forgotten by the realms.

The monks maintained control of the location until the year 1442. In that year, Thieleth githzerai assassins stormed the area and occupied it as a base to execute their operations against the increasing presence of Githyanki in Hells Womb.

The location shifted possession once more in 1456, as Black Banner assailed the area. The entire company was slain in their endeavors. Several lunar cycles later, a contingent of monastics and clerics from the Quadrax seized control of the locale and subsequently resurrected the fallen explorers.

If only they could have foreseen the future, they would have left their victims lifeless and consigned to oblivion.

The place exchanged ownership once more in the Year 1496, when the mage Beshrii seized control and subsequently utilized it to extort funds from the merchants of the Council of Bile. She maintained dominion over the location for nearly a decade, until her demise in the Earthquake of Ogremoch.

After Beshrii's demise, the Quadrax reestablished their presence in the Eastern Shar. This location functions as the operational base for the guild.

Nestled beneath the towering rock formation that supports the Easter Shar lies the intricate Apex Maze.
