The Sathubas Waterworks Project was an undertaking of such vast scope that only the exceptionally long-lived would ever bother with. The aboleth, beings of such remarkable longevity that they were almost considered immortal, were the driving force behind this grand project. The aim was to raise the water table of the Sathubas region, thereby expanding the living space for the area's three aboleth city-states. Ophudehk's planners conducted extensive research, determining that their city-state would reach its maximum population in 1480 LE. The other aboleth city-states of Sathubas would have more time, with an additional century for Fihrmorta and two more for the smallest of the region's aboleth city-states.

Quietly and discreetly, they commenced diverting water from the Imgangreth region downward to Sathubas. This was executed with meticulous precision, ensuring the drain holes would not expand too swiftly due to erosion. The aboleth sought to avoid becoming embroiled in conflicts with those dwelling above them. Openly tampering with another's water source would invite a confrontation, which their foes could easily block from above. Driven by the imperative to maintain peace with the peoples inhabiting the lands overhead, the aboleth exerted substantial effort, leveraging magic and hiring miners, to ensure the water siphoning remained largely unnoticed.

The Sathubas Waterworks Project proved exceedingly successful. It transformed the Sathubas region into an expansive network of water-filled passages, where once-modest ponds blossomed into vast lakes, and lakes swelled into veritable inland seas. This development proved a tremendous boon for the aboleth, yet spelled ruin for their rival city-states and the smaller "feeder cities" that had depended upon the region.

The aboleth designated the water siphons as Vectors, followed by a code denoting the connected sectors and a unique identification number. Examples include Vector KU-1, which links the Kazgon and Urgakh sectors, and Vector GG-4, which connects the Garathral and Gúrz sectors.
