After constructing Sphere 411, the world presently known as Bal-Kriav, Bruh Kreniik situated a group of dragons in a region he designated Leret Dovah, the Aerie of Dragons. He intended for these dragons to serve as guardians of the world he had established, shielding it from the imminent arrival of the Chaos Lords.
Nidhogg was an apocalypse dragon, an androgynous super-rare dragon type summoned solely to reduce a landscape to ruin. During the Creation War (1486 DE - 8777 DE), the creature occasionally allied with the Nawirrus Covenant. In the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE), Nidhogg served the Quarat'un Covenant for a time until Tiamat's downfall. Thereafter, the dragon served under Tiamat.
In the Third Dragon Wake (1575 HE - 1576 HE), the awakened Nidhogg embarked on a rampage, laying siege to the Zeymah'kein city Lumnaar Hok. This fortified settlement had been constructed to defend against dragons, yet Nidhogg's onslaught proved unrelenting. The dragon's assault reduced the city to ruin, claiming the lives of tens of thousands. While Nidhogg's direct attacks accounted for many casualties, the majority perished from the barrage of arrows, bolts from dragon ballista, and magical assaults. Eventually, the beast succumbed to a few well-placed blows from handheld weapons. Nidhogg's fiery demise unleashed a deluge of scorching blood, which rained down upon the land, scorching the earth and creating the region known as Ag Krenok, the Burning Divide.
