The Third Dragon Wake emerged from the schemes of the Tinvaakin Kurtulmak. Cognizant that they too would endure the consequences, these Kobold sorcerers proceeded with the Dragon Wake Ritual.
The Third Dragon Wake proved more dire than the preceding two. The dragons emerging from their slumbers were among the most formidable and ferocious wyrms ever witnessed. These were evidently creatures with sleep cycles spanning centuries. Several of these dragons had not unfurled their wings since the era of angels and titans.
During a Dragon Wake, the dragons are said to possess all their mental faculties, yet exhibit an almost boundless rapacity, with a more audacious and insatiable hunger.
Time and time again, we endeavored to placate an attacking dragon, only to have it turn on us mere days later. The dragon frenzy was not confined to the chromatic dragons alone; the others also behaved unusually, though they were less inclined to renege on agreements.
The Third Dragon Wake heralded a number of benefits, including the demise of the Mir'piamauza and Zeymah'kein empires, as well as a reduction in the dragon population and the troublesome tribes surrounding us.
Grishnag, of the Tinvaakin Kurtulmak, from his work - "The Third Dragon's Awakening"
The dragons of the Third Dragon Wake wreaked mayhem and devastation across the Aerie of Dragons and into adjacent regions. This catastrophic event devastated the civilizations of the Mir'piamauza and the Zeymah'kein, the goal of Ashmerthoon, proxy to Kurtulmak. The dragons also attacked those who had abruptly roused all the dragons simultaneously. Ashmerthoon suffered staggering losses, with a quarter of its population succumbing to the dragon scourge, in addition to catastrophic property damage.
The brief Third Dragon Wake precipitated the downfall of both the Zeymah'kein and the Mir'piamauza. Their demise enabled Ashmerthoon's economy, population, and territory to flourish, making them the uncontested power in the central reaches of the Aerie of Dragons for nearly a millennium.
