Isgofnel is a bluish-white island of ice situated near the mouth of the Hrafgrir inlet. A cursory glance at the map of Midrêth might lead many to believe it is a glacial creep from Igas. However, it is in fact an extension of the Ice Cap. Despite the typical conditions for melting, it remains frigid, fortified by energies originating a thousand miles away from COA 411.
Isgofnel's mass has doubled over the preceding millennium. It poses a shipping peril for the bay and the Nautrek Sea, with icebergs breaking off at a consistent pace between Bloom and Bliss.

When the ancient empire of Glangveif collapsed, a contingent of frost giants sought refuge on this secluded island. They established a modest settlement, bestowing upon it the name Otraki Gaum, meaning "Last Stand" in their tongue. Given their remote location and small numbers, the frost giants posed no threat to the mighty Hofthorm empire, and were thus left to their own devices. Subsisting through fishing and coastal raids, this once-fledgling outpost has since evolved into a thriving town, now home to a diverse population numbering in the thousands.
The island is home to a population of caribou and other arctic fauna. The game population is carefully managed and replenished. Some of these creatures are descendants of those brought to the island by the frost giant settlers or shipped in from Ice Cap via Blackjammer.
