The five battle-axes were forged by the last high priest of Gravestone Gates for his elite battle priests. Unfortunately, the leader and each of these commanders perished during the Siege of Gravestone Gates. As the weapons were consecrated religious relics of Hades, the Black Tide leader Katrana commanded they be destroyed. However, this order was never carried out, as a member of Black Banner sought to profit by selling the axes in Paradomea City.
Each of the Hades Blessing axes is shaped like a weaponized spade and functions the same, whether cutting through flesh or digging a grave. On one side of the spade head is an ornate design of a black ram (the symbol of Hades), and the other depicts a shallow open grave. The weapons derived much of their power when forged with grave dirt taken from the Hall of Hades. One legend suggests that the grave dirt was not freely given by the Caretakers and that they required the interment of a servant of Thasmudyan in the Hall of Hades. The Dead Council has used this unproven legend to explain why they attempted to eradicate the worship of Hades during the Grim Harvest Crusade (1462 - 1464) and later in the Black Tide War (1465 - 1486). During the defense of Gravestone Gates, the Death Lord Harion wielded a more powerful version of the Hades Blessing, which Katrana later personally retrieved and turned over to Thasmudyan.
Hades' Blessing is a formidable +4 cold-wrought iron flaming battle-axe.
