In 1127, the arch-mage Taranorn completed work on a device for harnessing the energies of Chaos. Constructed with the aid of enslaved earth elementals, the device was a towering 30-foot lava stone pinnacle inlaid with three Entropy Fragments. As the device was being built, the mage conjured fourteen slaadi ; all but one perished in powering up the Pinnacle. The surviving slaad, a highly cunning and intelligent creature, was a disguised black slaad named Ushgergoon. He offered to utilize his knowledge to provide the necessary fuel from the Limbo side to activate Taranorn's creation.

Taking the entropic energy of hundreds of slaad, on 4 Artifice 1133, the Pinnacle of Chaos was primed for activation. However, before it could be employed, Taranorn's twin sister, a mage aligned with the forces of Negative Entropy, entered the cavern housing the Pinnacle. Hoping to destroy the perilous device, she shattered her staff of the magi, unleashing its retributive strike. The damaged Pinnacle triggered its magical safeguards, and as a force ward materialized, Ushgergoon emerged through the compromised structure. With his blade Oblivion, he swiftly eliminated the wounded and perishing sisters.

Under the venerable canopies of Nárfaltuin lies a clandestine passage leading to the Labyrinth of Enchantment. Constructed by the Elalmoth, its most recent addition is an unsettling, spire-like apparatus housing three ebony crystals. An aura of luminous specks envelops the spire, manifesting an impenetrable barrier of sorts.

The chamber surrounding us bore the scars and char marks of what seemed to have been a potent magical detonation. Minuscule fragments of bone, metal, and timber were scattered throughout the area. A tattered page, likely torn from a diary, described the apprehensions of some sorcerer and their interactions with a slaad named Ushgergoon.

In the year 1814, Entropy cultists were tasked with retrieving the Pinnacle's entropy fragments. Upon the removal of the final fragment, the Pinnacle exploded, tragically claiming the lives of all living beings in the vicinity. Amidst the swirling cloud of lethal magic, golems were dispatched to recover the entropy fragments. A decade later, these fragments found a new haven within an Entropy Arch.
