Hirstyr Signir is a remarkable monument on the Step of Foundation. It preserves the historical record of the construction of Piranoth's Steps, as well as passages about other primordials and the history of the Creation War from the primordial's perspective. The primordial Piranoth initiated the monument, and as he became occupied with building Piranoth's Steps, he entrusted the task to his most trusted scribes. Another group was formed to serve as purveyors of historical record, composed of the elusive, cunning, and agile. These purveyors often had to document events while hovering over a battlefield or infiltrating enemy lands. All historical records gathered by the purveyors required Piranoth's approval before being inscribed onto the monument. Piranoth began recording history onto the Hirstyr Signir around 4 DE and the project concluded during the Abyssal Release ( 7777 DE - 8777 DE ) , when the primordials were driven from what was now known as the Abyss.
Hirstyr Signir is composed of thousands of tablet-pedestals and columns. Some have endured the ravages of demons until a prudent individual recognized the site's potential value. The history recorded on Hirstyr Signir is neither chronological nor uniform in style. A single passage may commence on one column and conclude on another, resulting in a chaotic jumble of writing that demands meticulous effort to decipher the content. Even then, the transcriber may need to fill in gaps or make assumptions. The historical passages at Hirstyr Signir have not deteriorated with time and will only become indecipherable if broken into numerous fragments and reduced to dust. Fortunately, very few areas have suffered this fate, as those that have were likely the consequence of someone's desire to suppress public access to that history.
The area of Hirstyr Signir is expansive, spanning across two hills and extending a mile into the surrounding forest. Given that this region lies within the inner realms of the Abyss, accessing it is no simple task. Entry requires unlocking four mystical wards, and maintaining their unlocked state for the duration of one's stay on the Step of Foundation. Consequently, the historical accounts emanating from Hirstyr Signir have primarily been those recorded by erudite demons.
