A web rupture is a weakened region in the Web of Magic that appears as a void into darkness, with radiant and pulsating blue-white webbing extending into the infinite. Contingent on the level of deterioration, if left unrepaired, it will transform into a rift. The majority of these web ruptures are detected by weave spiders and subsequently mended.
In the Dawn Era, there were thousands of web ruptures. Most of these were a byproduct of the Creationists' world-building and seeding efforts, while others were intentionally created using null mines - devices designed to pierce the Web of Magic and establish rifts to other realms. During the Demon Spawn War, demons exploited these techniques, using null mines to generate web ruptures and then further mines to transform them into gateways between the Abyss and the mortal world.
