The Primordial Splinter was a pact between Mephirouth and Surtur. It was formed to undertake the arduous process of Ascension. On 9 Kindle 1301 HE, they elevated Rioch Tetrax to the status of a Higher Power. As with the case of the Gray Block, their motivation for doing so remains unclear. Some speculate that both sought to gain possession of the Durkoth Saint's Torc of Maen Grirngrim, a device seemingly linked to the soul.
