According to the elven historical records, Ashemhorn was the natural boundary between the elves of southern Turgon and the Graagvrii of the northern regions. Before the devastating Phael-Tetramord War, the area was a verdant, pristine valley surrounded by beautiful, snow-capped peaks that encased dense evergreen forests. The open valley housed a large, placid lake, with majestic waterfalls spilling into crystalline pools, and flowing streams and rivers towards the great lake of Vardamir. The landscape was dotted with the old, overgrown ruins of an unknown civilization, their brick streets exposed by erosion or the intrusion of marauding beasts. Decorative arches spanned the waterways, including a massive 500-yard arch over the main river of Cirathrin. The elves documented over 1,000 monuments and statues throughout the valley, with the most impressive structures being the six spire-shaped eagle heads known as the Turgon Aeries.

In the Year 75, the Turgon Aeries underwent a sinister transformation. Their visages crumbled, unveiling leering, demoniac heads that spewed gouts of fire and belched plumes of smoke.

Today, the valley is a sweltering, barren expanse, with roiling clouds of gas and vapor, and harbors countless stagnant pools. The most feared denizens of the valley are demoniac elephant-sized hounds called mivilorns.
