Lake Baurongor lies at the epicenter of the icy sepulchral highlands of Timinórë, the verdant vale of Emeldimir, and the enchanted Feyrise. Runoff, streams, and rivers flow inward from each of these surrounding regions. From the north, the primary inflow consists of the faerie-kissed waters of the Rúmesil. Originating in the Vale of Emeldimir to the northwest, the fetid, brownish waters of the Badex river of decay also converge upon the lake.

The lake features deep channels flanked by shallow areas in the northwest and southwest. The shallow regions are sites of constant geothermal activity, with shores that are muddy and discolored by chemicals and the splashing of geysers. Steam, turning to thick fog during the winters, rises from the waters, and the air is permeated by the scent of sulfuric vapors. With numerous geysers, the larger ones serve as entrances to mephit warrens, areas engineered to avoid disrupting the pressure of nearby geysers. Home to hundreds of steam mephits, their ancestors fled to this region during the cooling of Bora Korek.

The Baurongor flows in a southeasterly direction, serving as the source for the Anassúmë River.
