In the Second Kizan War ( 1300 - 1315 ) , the river Guirfeint's course was altered from a southerly trajectory through the Kizan Valley to a southeastern direction, away from the valley. This new path took the river east of the Gakhs, creating swamps and ultimately doubling the size of Lake Lethiel.
RĂºmil 's engineers and earth elementals supplied by Gebs Chosen were responsible for Guirfeint's course change. Their task was to interrupt Rumaktharga 's water supply. Lacking the ability to halt this work through force, Rumaktharga excavated deep wells beneath their city and redirected streams into their valley strongholds. While the loss of the river's flow through the Gizan Valley was noticed, it did not achieve the intended outcome, leading the Second Kizan War to conclude in a stalemate.
Guirfeint is the abode of water elementals and aquatic weirds. During the Second Kizan War, numerous of these aquatic behemoths fought under the first lord of Anglor Hellion, the then-mortal Lokestant.
