The Guivre wetlands are formed by the convergence of three rivers: the Famirótan, the Irudrarg, and the Cenyemo. Whenever these rivers experience overflow, which is a frequent occurrence, it contributes to the abundant ponds and marshes scattered throughout the region. In the northern sections, where the waters of this area drain into the Core Sea, there are numerous geysers and steaming pools. This geothermal activity is attributed to a vast subterranean lava flow located hundreds of feet below.
Vessels and other craft of the Orchish Empire commerce traverse the swamp along the Irudrarg. They maintain ports on the Core Sea and the upland lake Virgath. Trade also flows westward via the Famirótan River, typically between the elven realms of Lúinwë and Ithengee.
