The picturesque valley of Gul is situated in the northeastern region of Karnegmoth. The highest point of this valley lies near the intersection of the ancient ruin of Liope and the serene lake of Neindal. At an elevation of 6,000 feet above the Pearl Sea, the valley slopes downward on both sides. To the north, it culminates in dramatic sea cliffs that plunge a thousand feet into the Pearl. The southern terminus, situated 140 miles away, concludes at a towering two-mile-high cliff overlooking the majestic lake of Benthiel.
In the Horgon Era, a century following the liberation of Râpha-Sûn from the clutches of Abâthigûr, trappers, loggers, and miners commenced establishing their presence within the valley. At that time, the valley's idyllic hills and evergreen forests served as the domain of the fey, Sprite, Thorn, wood elves, and other nomadic peoples devoid of permanent settlements.
Except for the trappers and hunters, Râpha-Sûn's miners and logging operations aimed to establish permanent settlements. When Gul's natives learned that their aggressive neighbors had laws dictating control based on permanent settlements, they constructed Norilenwen. They then strengthened their position by forming the Ethenoran confederacy. For an extended period thereafter, Râpha-Sûn acknowledged the rights of the valley's inhabitants.
In the Ivory Dao War (1425 - 1436), the valley was seized by Rilirthad. With the very forest appearing to spring to life around them, their occupation endured for less than a decade, resulting in Gul becoming a contested territory between Rilirthad and the Greenland Alliance.
