This sandy locale is a product of the Gypsum Rift. It was formed over the course of two centuries, with gypsum pouring out of the rift, blasted skyward to the surface, and then flowing through Lamprophyre like a river. The majority of this material ultimately traveled northward into the Pearl Sea. Such was the sheer volume that it generated the sandy white dunes now known as the Gypsum Dunes. At present, this area comprises a mixture of gypsum and sand brought in by the ocean's tides.
The towering white sand dunes in this region are plagued by dune reapers and rogue earth elementals. The elementals are those that never assimilated with Lamprophyre or their former Rilirthad masters. In the 1500s, Ivory Asylum brought in dune reapers to keep the elementals occupied. Since then, the elementals have posed little threat to those who venture into this area. The more perilous danger lies with the dune reapers. Lamprophyre maintains a brisk trade of these creatures with those seeking them for their armies or as entertainment in arenas. They can often be spotted in the Champion of the Pits battling would-be heroes in the Centrifuge Coliseum.
